Trevor Bauer (14-8, 4.46 ERA) takes to the mound Monday afternoon as Francisco Lindor Jersey
the red-hot Indians, riding an 11-game win streak, open a series vs. James Shields and the
White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field.
Bauer, who comes in having won his last three starts, went 5-0 with a 2.31 ERA in six starts Michael Brantley Jersey
and a relief appearance in August -- a month in which the Indians went 19-9 while padding their lead in the American League Central. Pitcher Corey Kluber said the run has been enjoyable for the Indians, but they are still taking a businesslike approach to the game.
"We keep it going by just showing up and working and doing the same things that we've been doing," Kluber said. "You can't just roll out of bed and show up and play a game. And I think we've done a good job of that. We're still doing the little things that win games."
Shields (2-5, 5.72 Cleveland Indians Jerseys
ERA) gets the start for Chicago in search of his first win since the end of June. Though he hasn't recorded a victory in more than two months, Shields turned in quality starts in three of his five August outings while posting a 4.76 ERA. That was a major improvement compared to July, in which he posted a 9.00 ERA with no quality starts.
"He has changed his arm angle a little bit. He has reinvented himself," Chicago manager Rick Renteria said. "He has been throwing much more effectively over the last five or six starts, actually. And I think his ability to go ahead and command the zone is certainly bringing more life to the possibility of him continuing to be as good in a different way
